Flavours that Promote Relaxation and Well-Being

The use of plants, fruits, and vegetables to promote health and wellbeing dates back to the birth of mankind itself, passed through generations on clay slabs from the Sumerians to the Celts.

In fact, all traditional medicines were plant based and their use often predates records. Lavender, Bergamot, Rosemary and Sage are held in high regard for their healing properties.

When we created our range of seltzers, careful consideration was given to the flavours we would use. We needed to use flavours that complimented the relaxational properties of the CBD, as well as
providing refreshment and great taste in spades.

Citrus Fruits

Citrus fruits are famed for high doses of vitamin C, a powerful antioxidant, and are often associated with good health. The zesty citrus flavours are known to help warm the body and can help with colds, arthritis and rough skin.

The healthy benefits of citrus fruits make them the perfect accompaniment to a CBD drink. Add to that the unchallenged refreshment found in their flavour, and you’ll see why three out of four of our drinks come from the beloved citrus family.

Yuzu – the Yuzu fruit is of Japanese origin. A cross between a Lime, Lemon, Grapefruit and Mandarin, they are traditionally used in Japan for mind and body health.

Blood Orange – used widely in aromatherapy, the Blood Orange has anti-inflammatory, antidepressant and antianxiety properties.

Pomelo – closely related to the Grapefruit, this smaller teardrop shaped fruit is full of antioxidants which can prevent and even reverse cellular damage.

Grapefruit – tipped as one of the healthiest additions to our diets, the Grapefruit is high in many nutrients, vitamins and fibre.

Tropical Fruits & Flowers

Elderflower – used to calm and relax, Elderflower water has been used for many years by herbalists. Maude Grieve, a British herbalist noted in 1930 that Elderflower was “one of the best preventatives known against the advance of influenza and the ill-effects of a chill”.

A 2006 study backed up these claims, when Elderberry plant extract was found to be effective against the H5N1 strain of avian flu.

The relaxing nervine properties of the Elderflower help to support the nervous system through stressful events and may also reduce depression.

Passionfruit – passionfruit is rich in alkaloids which help reduce anxiety and depression. Alkaloids are produced by many different species including fungi, flowers and animals. The naturally occurring compound has also been known to help with insomnia.

Guava – the guava fruit has an extensive nutrient profile, as well as a unique and refreshing taste. Rich in antioxidants and vitamins, the fruit can help manage diabetes.

The fruit is also suspected to have many preventative qualities such as relieving menstrual symptoms, reducing cancer risk, whilst boosting the health of your immune system and heart.
