Our idea for Goodrays is pretty simple... create great tasting, functional CBD products that have a genuinely positive impact for our customers. We brought together CBD experts, award-winning liquid developers, creative thinkers and business minds to develop a product we could all be proud of. We spent time on the best farms, in the best testing and extraction facilities and met many of the committed individuals who are bringing the benefits of cannabis to the people who need it. This is a passion project. The result is a great tasting product, backed with real benefits and underpinned by good ideas like sustainability, accountability and rigorous quality control around ingredients.
Is CBD good for me?
In short, yes.
Evidence suggests that CBD can improve quality of life by reducing pain, improving sleep patterns and reducing anxiety naturally and without side effects.
Our consumers take CBD for a wide range of reasons; managing pain and reducing inflammation from physical injuries, reducing stress and anxiety when under pressure or increasing focus on a big new project or creative endeavour.
As the science progresses we'll learn more and will be sure to keep you informed.
How does CBD work?
CBD interacts with the body's endocannabinoid system (ECS) - a complex biological system that modulates neurotransmitters, metabolism and inflammation. The role of the ECS is to maintain homeostasis or balance across all physiological functions. It is distributed throughout the brain and nervous system and affects mood, memory, control of movement, pain management, development of nerve growth and synaptic plasticity. In other words, it is one of the body’s most important systems.
CBD and other phytocannabinoids interact with this endogenous system by connecting to the network of receptors found throughout the ECS.
Is it legal?
Yes. CBD is legal in the UK, the EU, North and Latin America but some regulations may vary from country to country. To be legal CBD must be hemp-derived and there will be a legal limit for THC content – this can vary from 0% THC in Japan to 1% in Switzerland. Our CBD is sourced sustainably, rigorously tested, guaranteed zero THC and fully compliant with all local regulations.
What is Guava?
The guava is a round yellow tropical fruit with pink or white flesh and hard seeds. The taste has been described as a mix of strawberry, mango and pear.
The fruit and leaves of the guava tree have been used in traditional medicine in many cultures throughout Central America, the Caribbean, Africa, and Asia. Some of the conditions it is used for include inflammation, pain relief, rheumatism and fever.
Originating in Southern Mexico the guava has travelled across the tropics, carried by the Spanish and Potuguese, and developed into multiple varieties with either pink or white flesh.
In the Philippines it was once considered a poisonous and forbidden fruit, before a kind and generous boy by the name of Bay Abas asked the forest gods to make it edible for a passerby - a hungry old woman. When you drink a Raspberry & Guava Goodrays we’d like to ask that you think of us as that boy and yourself as the hungry old woman…
Am I getting the real thing?
In Goodrays products, yes, but that may not apply to all CBD products. A lack of comprehensive regulation and tracking means you’re going to have to do a bit of digging. Has the product been verified by a third-party lab? Can you track down their certificate of analysis? What kind of micro-testing and stability testing are they doing? Do you know where the derivative hemp was sourced? Does the brand have a good reputation?
Can I get addicted to CBD?
No. In fact, some people take CBD to actually combat substance abuse disorders. CBD shows no potential for dependence or abuse. A recent report by The World Health Organization found that naturally-occurring CBD is safe and well tolerated in humans, and there is no evidence of any public health-related problems associated with the use of pure CBD: “In its pure state, cannabidiol does not appear to have abuse potential or cause harm.”
What’s the best kind of CBD?
CBD isolate is the purest form of CBD that you can consume so we chose to use this in a highly bio-available water soluble format in Goodrays. We intend to explore the use of other cannabinoids in future products as the science evolves.
Is there an age restriction?
Currently the FSA states that CBD consumers should be over 18.
Do you offer other products?
We'll be bringing new products to market that deliver CBD and Vitamin D in tasty and delightful packages. Bottled drinks and edible gummies are next on the Goodrays roadmap.
Can I drink Goodrays with alcohol?
Yes, if you’re fond of a tipple there will be no negative impact on mixing your favourite alcoholic beverage with a Goodrays CBD Soda. “I’ll have a Vodka Goodrays” sounds good to us.
How much Vitamin D is in each can?
Every can delivers 33% of your recommended daily intake of Vitamin D - that’s 5µg or 5 micrograms depending on how much you paid attention in science class at school.
Who do you use for third-party testing of your CBD?
Our CBD ingredient is independently tested by registered laboratories to ensure we get objective analysis of all the good stuff that makes up a delicious can of Goodrays.
Do you ship outside the UK?
Yes. We can ship to most countries in Europe. See our Delivery & Returns page for more detail and for prices.
Can you provide certification of food safety?
Yes. We have over 200 pages of data on our CBD ingredients and can provide test results from our toxicology and stability studies
What is CBD?
CBD, short for Cannabidiol, is one of over 120 cannabinoids that are produced by the humble cannabis/hemp plant. CBD is the second most prevalent compound in the plant and has a wide range of medicinal and wellness effects including relief from anxiety and pain plus anti-inflammatory, anti-arthritic and neuroprotective qualities.
We recommend it predominantly for its anxiety relieving and anti-tension effects and as part of a balanced and healthy lifestyle. If you’re looking to treat a serious illness or disease always talk to a medical professional before taking any CBD product.
What does CBD do?
CBD has been shown to reduce anxiety, aid physical recovery, reduce inflamation and pain and increase quality of sleep.
While humans have been using cannabis medicinally for millennia, modern science is only just catching up and beginning to expose it's true benefits. CBD (at high doses) has proven effective in treating the symptoms of serious neurological disorders like epilepsy and multiple sclerosis with extensive research underway around the potential for treatment of many chronic disorders.
CBD v THC - what's the difference?
Despite being the two most prevalent cannabinoids in the plant, and identical in their molecular structure, CBD (Cannabidiol) and THC (Tetrahydrocannabinol) have very different effects on the human body.
CBD is non-psychoactive and therefore does not provide the ‘high’ that THC and cannabis more generally is known for.
When reacting together, CBD actually works against the effects of THC by reducing anxiety, stress and the negative feelings associated with being ‘stoned’ or ‘high’.
Does CBD get me high?
CBD is a relaxant, but it’s not intoxicating like alcohol or it's psychoactive cousin, THC.
CBD will not get you high but does have calming and rehabilitative effects at the correct dose. We’ve worked with some of the smartest brains in cannabis to find the right dose for Goodrays and to be frank, anything under 20mg isn’t really cutting the mustard.
What is Yuzu ?
The Yuzu is a green or yellow aromatic Asian citrus fruit whose acidic rind and juice are widely used in Japanese cuisine. The taste has been described as a mix of lemon, mandarin, and grapefruit.
It’s a fruit with a somewhat chequered past… after being banned by the Department of Agriculture from import into the United States a thriving black market exists among chefs for fresh yuzu smuggled from Japan.
In Japan, where the fruit is celebrated for it’s oil and fragrance, bathing with yuzu on the winter solstice is a custom that dates back to at least the early 18th century. The yuzu bath, known commonly as yuzu yu (柚子湯), is said to guard against colds, treat the roughness of skin, warm the body, and relax the mind. We do recommend trying Yuzu in a Goodrays first before filling the tub...
What’s the difference between hemp and cannabis?
It’s a pretty common misconception that hemp and cannabis are two totally different kinds of plant. In fact, they’re not distinct species at all. They’re simply two different names for the cannabis plant.
The only difference is the level of tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), the most well-known psychoactive compound in the plant.
Cannabis plants with 0.3 percent or less of THC are called hemp. Cannabis plants with more than 0.3 percent THC are called weed, marijuana, pot, grass and hundreds of other names.
How much should I take?
The FSA recommends that you take no more than 70mg of CBD a day. That’s about three GOODRAYS or 28 drops of your standard CBD oils (just be sure to check for quality).
These limits will likely loosen over time. To put it into perspective, most clinical studies involve doses of between 400mg - 800mg per day. We don’t recommend you conduct any clinical investigations at home but you see our point!
Can I take too much?
According to the recent WHO report, CBD is a non-toxic substance. In other words, it has no capacity for creating a reaction such as an overdose, even when consumed in large quantities.
What is the Endocannabinoid System?
Every human being (and mammal) has a cell-signaling system known as the endocannabinoid system (ECS) - a complex biological system that is involved in the regulation of physiological and cognitive processes such as mood, memory, inflammation, pain, sleep, immunity and stress response.
CBD is a phytocannabinoid that interacts with the ECS receptors throughout your brain and nervous system. Cannabinoid receptors are tiny proteins attached to individual cells. They receive signals from various stimuli that help your cells respond to and regulate many of the functions of the body - their main aim is to maintain homeostasis (balance) across all the critical systems of the body. The ECS is a relatively new field of study, with the first receptors only being discovered in the early 1990's. With the resurgence of scientific research into cannabis and CBD we are continuously finding out more about this critical biological system.
I'm pregnant, can I drink Goodrays?
No, we do not recommend taking any CBD product when pregnant or breastfeeding. This is not because it has been proven to be harmful but due to the lack of validated research.
Do you have other flavours coming?
Yes. We have already developed a selection of new flavours and have an absolute banger ready for summer 2021.
What is the shelf life of Goodrays?
Currently, we recommend a shelf life of 12 months, but we're working towards a 24 month shelf life. In case you leave a few down the back of the couch..
Goodrays has high CBD (30mg) compared to other drinks. Why?
We did a lot of research, swallowed a lot of CBD at various doses and spoke to some very clever scientists about effectiveness to discover that the minimum dose for an average adult to feel the effect of CBD is around 25mg in a liquid solution. We add 30mg of CBD to each can of Goodrays to ensure all our consumers feel the relaxing effects of each can and get the full benefits of this amazing compound.
What does bio-availability mean?
Bioavailability is a measure of how easily a substance can be absorbed by the body. In pharmacology, for example, it refers to how quickly a drug enters the circulatory system and reaches the desired area, so that it can take effect.
What is Elderflower?
The elder is an ancient hedgerow plant, native to Britain. The flowers of the plant have a sweet fragrant taste with a hint of lychee.
In ancient times the elder was believed to keep evil spirits from entering the house if grown outside the door and it was used medicinally to treat pain, inflammation and respiratory problems.
The appearance of the large mass of white flowers on the elder in late May is one of the first indicators of summer in the UK.
Steeped in mystery and superstition, a number of powers and properties have been attributed to this once sacred plant. Among them the ability to cure headaches by ‘purging the tunicles of the brain’. Our Elderflower & Yuzu is guaranteed to tickle your tunicles.
